Absolute Radio and smart car to stage Silent gig

Absolute Radio has signed a high profile deal with smart car to promote the new smart fortwo campaign.

The six figure deal, brokered by Maxus, will see Absolute Radio run a week long promotion on the high profile Geoff Lloyd Hometime show which will culminate in the station staging a silent gig with Scouting For Girls and one lucky listener winning a smart car.

The campaign will run in the Breakfast Show from 9th May and the campaign will be fully integrated across on air and online with a fully branded, dedicated microsite hosted at www.absoluteradio.co.uk.

smart are highlighting their smart fortwo campaign which is focussed on encouraging people to take “test drives with a difference”.

On air, from Monday 9th May, Geoff Lloyd will be playing an ‘in car’ game with two listeners, testing how smart they are through their car. Geoff will play each listener a sequence of horn honks – the listener will then be challenged to repeat the sequence using their own horn!

On Friday 13th May, the four winners from across the week will come along to the smart urban stage on London’s South Bank to join Geoff and the team live on-air at the event with the winner taking home a brand new smart car.

To support this campaign smart are building the smart urban stage which will be a large structure located on Doon Street Car Park just behind the South Bank. Here, amongst other things, people will be able to take a ‘test drive with a difference’. On the evening of Friday 13th May Absolute Radio will be staging an exclusive gig on at The Bargehouse on London’s Southbank for smartcar, hosted by Geoff Lloyd with Scouting for Girls playing a silent gig – with all the audience wearing headphones in order to hear the gig.

“This another example of how we’ve been able to make good use of Ofcom’s newly relaxed regulation – by focusing much more centrally on the smart car brand, and amplifying their wider marketing campaign.” said Chris Goldson, Absolute Radio’s Commercial Director. “And we’re putting on an amazing, money-can’t buy event for smart car – something the brand can be associated with forever.”
