Q2 growth to be based on success of current product range

Mercedes-Benz has observed that sales growth in the second quarter will be based on the success of the current product range, especially on new products such as the face-lifted Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the new SLK.

According to the German carmaker, consumer demand for both models was very high in the first month after the market launch.

Indeed, some 20.965 units of the C-Class sedan were delivered, thereby capturing the market leadership in its segment right from the outset.

Sales of the new SLK, meanwhile, rose sharply in the first month following its market launch, beginning the convertible season with a rise of 47.7 per cent.

"This attractive product lineup gives us a very good competitive position," commented Dr Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars.

"In the full year, we aim to achieve a new sales record and want to sell more than 1.3 million Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and smart fortwo."

Last month, sales rose by 8.2 per cent compared to the high volume recorded in April last year.
