The record best-ever smart festival

The 2011 smart car festival gave new meaning to a ‘show of strength’ with the annual event attracting more visitors than ever before.

Thousands of smart car owners and enthusiasts descended on Mercedes-Benz World, near Weybridge, to take part in the annual gathering that celebrates all things smart. They helped to make the 2011 smart festival the biggest and best yet, and enjoyed a huge array of attractions that were designed to illustrate the iconic brand’s fun ownership experience, unrivalled style and environmental credentials.

Showgoers enjoyed the opportunity to sample the zero-emission smart fortwo electric drive, which will be on sale in the UK next year, as well as a range of current smart fortwo models during the day’s unique ‘test drive with a difference’ feature. They also had the chance to see the smart in action with demonstrations from the smart arrows driving formation team and the smarts4you racing team. Static displays included some BRABUS tailor made models and the official unveiling of the Boxfresh Special Edition.

Owners fought it out for top honours in the ‘best kept’, ‘best dressed’ and ‘most modified’ competitions, whilst those looking to make their smarts even more individual could take advantage of the multitude of smart traders or even bid on a unique set of fortwo panels that had been ‘penned’ by renowned illustrator Johanna Basford at this year’s smart urban stage event in London.
