You probably already know all about the brilliant smart car goings-on at this year’s smart festival, and if you don’t you can pop over to our Facebook page to see all the pics.

But what you might not know about yet is the very special extra smart festival that took place 148 miles away from Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey.

Enthusiastic smart car retailer smart of Sheffield decided to host its very own smart festival this year, after its most dedicated smart car fans had a nine hour round trip in last year’s smart convoy.

A little closer to home, smart of Sheffield’s smart festival 2011 saw a whole load of most excellent events enjoyed by lots of local smart fans. Held at smart of Sheffield’s showroom, the day’s festivities included such random delights as a stilt walker making balloon animals and a face painter – for small and big kids!

The Sheffield smart festival included classic competition favourites too. The ‘best dressed smart’ was won by Caroline Vyse and her cleverly-clobbered white smart. Dressed to look like a dog, complete with nose, tongue, tail and ears, Caroline’s smart fortwo was the best in show. Runner up was Leanne Brown, who has named her smart car ‘Star’ and dressed it up with stars down the tridion, star lights on the dash and star cushions for headrests. It’s cosmic!

The extra smart festival had a serious side too, as it was all in a good cause – raising money for its charity of the year, St Luke’s Hospice, who also enjoys a specially-wrapped smart car from smart of Sheffield.

Finishing off with a colourful balloon race, the Sheffield smart festival was considered a big hit, so although we were sad not to see the gang at the Official smart festival, we are still delighted such fun was had by all.
